Taking a leap of faith

Standard

Quite often in life, we are required to take a leap of faith. This might involve quitting a job, moving house, starting a family or something else that throws you out of your comfort zone. The most scary part about taking a leap of faith is that there’s no guarantee of how things are going to pan out, but you shouldn’t let this stop you. Absolutely nothing in life is set in stone, so if you want to achieve something, then you should put aside your fear and follow your heart.

What do you feel guided to do? Do you feel like you’re on the right track with your life? What changes would you make if you were brave enough? These are questions that you should ask yourself on a regular basis, as there is always room for self-improvement and change. Sometimes, change will come knocking on your door and you will be forced to adapt. Other times, you will be the instigator of change, creating a new set of circumstances for yourself.

Whenever I take a leap of faith, I always trust that I will be okay. No matter what happens, the universe will look after me and I’ll be alright. If you desire something in your life, then don’t let fear hold you back. We are blessed with only so many days on this good earth, so do not waste them in regret of what could have been. Expand your boundaries and be the person that you know you can be!

Is there such a thing as destiny?

Standard

Sometimes in life, it feels as though you have been put on a certain path. You are guided to do certain things, as though it was always your purpose to do so. But can this be attributed to destiny or are they simply circumstances of your own making?

This is an age-old debate and there is no clear-cut answer. While I believe that some aspects of our lives are decided before we are born (i.e who our parents are going to be), other things are left to chance. With each new life, our souls are on a journey of self-discovery, so there will be certain lessons to be learned and certain obstacles to be overcome. Say, for example, if you were a chauvinist in your previous life then you might have decided to reincarnate as a woman in this life to be on the receiving end of sexual abuse, thus it would be your destiny (and karmic justice) to experience the same abuse that you once gave to other people.

Other people might argue that destiny is wishful thinking. It is very possible that symptoms of destiny could be attributed to the law of attraction, which attracts things into your life that you focus your attention on. Hence, the more you think about something – whether good or bad – it usually comes into your life and is labelled as destiny.

While we are left with the free will to make our own choices, it does seem that we are destined to do certain things. Throughout our lives, we receive inner guidance and wisdom, which informs us what path to take. If we choose to listen to this guidance, then arguably we are choosing to accept our true purpose and destiny.

Random Acts of Kindness!

Standard

This week, I read an article about a school in America that teaches its kids the importance of kindness. I was blown away by this discovery and found myself wishing that more schools taught kids how to be good citizens! One of their exercises involved going to the library to hide inspirational post-it notes in the books, which I thought was absolutely brilliant.

After reading about this, I was compelled to look up random acts of kindness on Google. Straight away, I found a website that listed tonnes of ideas for how to be kind: http://www.randomactsofkindness.org/kindness-ideas

The random acts of kindness thing really spoke to me, so I have decided to implement it in my life. It doesn’t cost much to say hi to stranger or buy a coffee for a homeless guy, but you can really make a difference to someone’s day if you do things like this! And so the first thing that I did was try out the post-it note thing in the library! Hopefully, the recipients of my hidden messages will smile at what they read 🙂

A few days later, I discovered a website called http://www.impossible.com, which I really recommend you to check out. It is a place where people can help each other to achieve their dreams and wishes. Even as I am writing this post, someone has just responded to my wish to become a writer and gave me some very insightful advice on how to get published! Impossible is a place where people share kindness and love, just because they can – IT’S FANTASTIC!!

So there you have it… random acts of kindness! Hopefully, I have inspired you to share the love 🙂

My Discovery of Angels

Standard

Not so long ago, I did not believe in angels. In fact, I’m still slightly unsure as to their exact nature and purpose. Nonetheless, I have definitely been convinced that they exist.

I used to think that the angels were nothing more than spirituality’s answer for Gods. I was very sceptical of everything associated with them and decided to myself that they did not exist. In my eyes, there was only one higher power… the divine energy that flows through everything and everyone. Through meditation and the silencing of the mind, I connected frequently with the divine source, which drastically improved the quality of my life.

When people told me about the angels, I did not take much notice, because I did not want to worship or pray to higher entities. I thought that angels were just human versions of the divine source, much like the Gods of other religions. I simply did not picture God to be a human-like entity… I envisioned it to be more like Christianity’s Holy Spirit, or “the force” from Star Wars. An energy that flows through everything, connecting us all in every way.

But when I began to practice Reiki, everything changed. Firstly, my faith in energy healing was strengthened. And secondly, I sensed that other beings were joining in with the sessions…

Whether I was giving or receiving the energy, I felt something other than my connection to the divine source: ethereal hands that tickled my cheeks and nose, or handcuffed my wrists in the air, or a strong presence that sent a chill up my spine. I have experienced such things on many occasions now, and I quickly came to the conclusion that angels were responsible. When I called for their help during healing, they immediately made their presence known, strengthening my flow of energy and guiding my hands to where they needed to go.

Since then, I have realised that angels are not there to be worshipped like deities. They are here to help us, whenever we call upon them for help. There are many stories surrounding the nature of angels and other higher beings, but I remain quite dubious about them. For me, the background of the angels does not matter, only that they are here to help.

Meditation as a Daily Practice

Standard

For the last five months, I have been meditating at least once every day. And I can honestly say that doing it every day has vastly improved my life.

Before this, I only ever dipped in and out of spirituality. I would read spiritual books and fully resonate with their teachings, but this wisdom was never a permanent fixture in my life. Over time, spirituality would slip out of my mindset and I would fall into periods of darkness. Whenever I got angry or upset, I would get frustrated because I knew about this spiritual wisdom and yet I could not put it into practice.

But when I started to meditate every day, it anchored spirituality into my existence. It allowed me to look within myself and find the inner peace that I needed. Generally speaking, it has helped to silence my mind, balance my emotions and strengthen my connection to the divine source.

At first, it was difficult to incorporate meditation into my routine. I just couldn’t seem to find the time for it, and I wasn’t even particularly busy. In truth, I was probably scared of taking the deep plunge, for fear that meditation might not provide me with what I needed. However, after a particularly bad dark patch, I joined a local meditation group in the hope that it would motivate me to practice daily.

And it worked! Every morning now, I meditate for around fifteen minutes (either to a guided meditation or peaceful music), which usually puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day. But if I need to recharge my batteries later on, then I meditate again.

Meditation is not for everyone, but I seriously recommend that you try it out. It is a great stress relief and does a great job of replenishing you. People practice it at different times and places, however often they choose, so just do what is right for you. Looking within will provide you with all the answers that you will ever need.
